CHILD AND PARENT THERAPIST IN RALEIGH, NC
Hi there, Iβm Dakota, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Child and Parent Therapist! I specialize in working with infants, young children, mothers, fathers, and families; particularly during experiences of grief, trauma, and transition.
My journey here follows an enriching advanced clinical social work fellowship in pediatric mental health at the Yale Child Study Center, where I specialized in early childhood trauma.
Born and raised in New York City, Iβm so glad to be back in North Carolina and put down personal and professional roots here. It is a privilege to be a part of my clientβs lives and walk alongside children and their families as they grow and develop. It would be an honor to support your family as you explore therapy at Your Journey Through.
COUNSELING APPROACH
My therapeutic approach is informed by my belief that all healing happens in the context of safe relationships and that parents deserve as much nurturing as their children do. Because of this, Iβve pursued certification in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) β and have been fortunate to receive specialized training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, relational neuroscience and mentalization based interventions.
While I practice evidence-informed therapy, I prioritize centering the voices and experiences of my clients in treatment. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Together, we will co-create different treatment pathways that honor your familyβs values and work towards providing relief and understanding.
Iβm committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for my therapy clients and would love to have the opportunity to work with you!

A THERAPIST WHO KNOWS HER STUFF
I graduated from Wake Forest University with my Bachelorβs in Psychology and Philosophy, and went on to receive my Masterβs Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Because I believe that children and families deserve the highest quality clinical care, I pursued additional training and completed a 2 year post-masters Fellowship in pediatric mental health at the Yale Child Study Center, where I specialized in treating early childhood trauma.
